Phaigh, Bethel One of the 22 Reiki Master students of Hawayo Takata. She wrote two books, one called Gestalt and the Wisdom of the Kahunas and the other, Journey into Consciousness (unpublished). According to Robert Fueston she studied over a short period of time with Hawayo Takata and wrote in Journey into Consciousness, 'The lessons (in life that I needed to learn) may have been particularly painful because my initiations had been timed so closely together. I had left Hawaii that spring not knowing of Reiki. I return this winter as a Reiki Master, a very green one'. Bethel studied to become a Reiki Master after meeting Barbara Brown who told her all about Hawayo Takata. She died on the 3rd of January 1986. Petter, Frank Arjava In 1991, Frank Arjava Petter moved to Japan with his Japanese wife, Chetna, to live. Briefly returning to Germany, his homeland, he studied all 3 levels of the system of Reiki. He claims that before long he became the first teacher to teach all three levels openly in Japan. In 1993, they began researching the system of Reiki's traditional roots. He also made contact with Fumio Ogawa, a Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai member. In 1997, Tsutomu Oishi provided Frank Arjava Petter with a photo of Mikao Usui with the 5 precepts in the left hand corner and a manual. Frank Arjava Petter has written many books about his research in Japan. Now living back in Dusseldorf, Germany he has recently co-written a book with Tadao Yamaguchi about Chujiro Hayashi.
